My Perfect Burger
What is a Perfect Burger? For me, it’s a burger that offers little resistance for your teeth, when going through a warm bun, then gifts you with a satisfying pop once your teeth break the grilled crust of the meat and warm juices roll down your tongue next to a string of melted cheese. Your taste buds go wild as condiments mix with cheese and meat. Salty and sweet, crunchy and smooth, flavors and textures combine with each chew… Click the image for the recipe. Or click here.
The Gourmet Whaler
“Famous” Fish Tacos The original - Panko breaded fried flounder with signature slaw, chipotle mayo, and peach/mango salsa. (From the menu description)
The Rex Burger & Lobster
With so much energy, drama, and beauty in New York, it’s hard not to get inspired in this majestic, urban, oasis. Urban photography is a favorite of mine.
It was a rainy day. Heavy storms drenched the city and the usual crowds were huddled beneath the archways, trying to stay dry. I had other ideas.
Church at Night
I took this during the “blue hour” on a rainy evening in Flushing, Queens. The light pollution backlit the steeple and gave the scene a really dramatic feel.
Suburbs, beaches, wine country, and great bagels. What’s not to love about Long Island?
It was a two-week long road trip that tested my skills as a photographer and my patience, as I was stuck behind the wheel (as were my brothers-in-law) with no reprieve as the wives did not want to attempt to drive on the opposite-side of the street. Regardless, Ireland’s beauty is unmatched and the photos were absolutely stunning.
As I continue to develop my skills as a photographer, I tend to read a lot of photography blogs. I came across a post from PetaPixel that showed some amazing photos from a photographer that modified an old Soviet-era Russian lens to create “Magic Bokeh.” I found the lens on eBay, modified it as well, and had so much fun shooting these really unique photos. Thanks to Aliriza Rostami for showcasing this lens modification.
My DJI Mavic Pro has been a wellspring of enjoyment and artistic development. Aerial photography with the use of an unmanned arial system (UAS) has introduced a new perspective to a timeless art.
My feet may be on land but my soul is in the ocean. SCUBA Diving has always been my favorite activity. There’s an entire world under the waves and your entire perspective on life becomes altered when you’re 60 feet down and blowing bubbles.
